Yahoo! adds more Asia Pacific mobile partners
MANILA, Philippines -- Internet giant Yahoo! has inked new deals with nine mobile operators in Asia Pacific to expand its mobile phone reach in the region, the company said this week.
Yahoo! said the new partnerships will become part of its oneSearch, a mobile search service designed for mobile users.
New deals were signed with Aircel Limited (India), BPL Mobile (India), Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (BSNL; India), DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd (DiGi; Malaysia), PT EXCELCOMINDO PRATAMA Tbk. (Excelcom; Indonesia), PT Hutchison CP Telecom (Hutch 3; Indonesia), PT Indosat, Tbk (Indosat; Indonesia), PCCW Mobile HK Limited (Hong Kong) and Starhub Ltd (Singapore).
Other mobile phone partners that have signed up with Yahoo! include Globe Telecom Inc. (Philippines), Idea Cellular Limited (India), LG Telecom (Korea), Maxis Communications Berhad (Malaysia), PT Telekomunikasi Selular (Telkomsel; Indonesia), SmarTone-Vodafone (Hong Kong) and Taiwan Mobile Co (Taiwan).
Yahoo! oneSearch is a mobile search service designed for mobile users. It integrates content from a variety of sources, including news, financial information, weather conditions, Flickr photos, Yahoo! Answers, web images, movies, flight status, Wikipedia, currency conversion, among others.
